How to Play Player 1: SAY CHEESE!

1

The Board & Blocks

The game board consists of a 3x3 square tray. The center position (2,2) contains a fixed Swiss cheese piece that cannot be moved or removed. There are 7 rectangular mouse blocks that occupy the remaining 8 spaces, leaving exactly one vacant space.

2

The Rolling Mechanic

Unlike traditional flat sliding 15-puzzles, the mouse pieces must be rolled 90 degrees into the adjacent empty square (Up, Down, Left, or Right). Rolling causes the top face of the block to change orientation. Sliding without rolling is an illegal move!

3

The Win Condition (Snouts-Up)

Each challenge card specifies an initial setup where several mice start with their red tails facing up (Tails-Up). The goal is to roll the blocks until all 7 mice have their cute noses facing up (Snouts-Up) in the fewest possible moves.

The Three Cheese Maturity Difficulty Levels:

Mild (Levels 1–15):Puzzles require 3 to 7 moves. Focuses on straightforward peripheral rolling.
Medium (Levels 16–35):Puzzles require 7 to 13 moves. Introduces counter-intuitive borrowed space techniques.
Extra Sharp (Levels 36–50):Puzzles require 12 to 18 moves. Rigorous multi-loop orbital sequences with zero margin for error.
SOLVER FAQ & PARENT ADVISORY

Common Board Game Questions

Q: Why can't I solve Level 24 no matter which way I roll?Level 24 is known as the "False Dead-End Paradox." Most players assume you should never turn a snout back into a tail. However, Level 24 mathematically forces you to temporarily flip an already solved snout back into a tail position to open up the perimeter lane. Check our 3D solver above to see the exact sequence.
Q: Can I remove the center cheese piece to make more room? No, the center cheese block is permanently fixed to the board grid. It serves as an obstacle and pivot point around which all the mice must circulate.
